Eastern Otay Mesa, CA / Client: Calpine Energy Group

Located in a remote area at the western base of the San Ysidro Mountains, near the U.S./Mexico border, the Calpine/Otay Mesa Generating Plant is the most recent electric generating plant to be built in San Diego. This facility is an ultra-clean, technologically advanced facility, producing 500 mega-watts at full capacity. There was extensive earthwork and geotechnical considerations, due to the sensitive nature of the facility. A new switch yard was also constructed as part of the facility.
